St. Lucie County's Communications Division is always looking for ways to reach residents and visitors, whether it is through our websites, government access channel (SLCTV Comcast 28 / U-Verse 99), social media, mobile apps or traditional media outlets such as newspapers and television stations.

Spider-man Swings Into the Lewis Library June 23

The Paula A. Lewis Library spins a web of action and suspense as the Movie Matinee presents “Spider-man: Homecoming” on Saturday, June 23 at 2 p.m.

Featuring Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr. and Michael Keaton, Peter Parker balances his life as an ordinary high school student in Queens with his super-hero alter-ego Spider-Man, and finds himself on the trail of a new menace prowling the skies of New York City with a little help from Tony Stark (aka Iron Man). With a running time of 133 minutes, the film is rated PG-13. Anyone younger than thirteen who would like to attend the film rated PG-13 must have a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian. Permission slips will be available at the front desk.

Other family activities include:         

  • Weekly storytime happens on Fridays at 10:30 a.m.
  • The Library Science Rocks program take place on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. at through July 14 (except for the week of July 4). Designed for students in kindergarten through 5th grade, this program provides students with the opportunity to take part in hands-on science experiments, but come early, as space is limited.
  • Summer Reading Activities get students moving on Thursdays at 2 p.m.:
    • The Science Tellers get talking on Thursday, June 14 at 2 p.m. Grab your spurs and journey with us to the Wild, Wild West. Mystery, music and science combine to create an action-packed western adventure.
    • The Oxbow Eco-Center creates a buzz on Thursday, June 21 at 2 p.m. Are mosquitoes out to ruin your outdoor adventure? Join the Oxbow staff for this interactive, educational skit about some pesky, little bugs.
    • Water safety makes a splash on Thursday, June 28 at 2 p.m. With so much water around us, it is imperative that we stay safe. Join US Army Corp of Engineers Park Ranger Art Ruebenson as he shares an interactive presentation on water safety.

These events are free and open to everyone, but space is limited.
