Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)
The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) assists eligible households with improving the energy efficiency of their homes. This helps to reduce heating and cooling costs throughout the year.This program is funded by the Department of Energy and receives additional funding from the Department of Human Services.
Assistance is provided in the form of:
- Repairing/Replacing inefficient heating/cooling units
- Installing insulation
- Installing weather stripping, caulking, thresholds, etc.
- Door/Window replacement
- Repairing/Replacing water heaters
- Installing Solar Screens
- Applying solar reflective coatings to manufactured homes
- Installing attic ventilation
Examples of eligible repairs:
- Repair or replace inefficient heating and cooling units
- Address air-infiltration
- Weather stripping
- Caulking
- Thresholds
- Minor wall, ceiling and floor repairs
- Replace doors and windows
- Install attic insulation
- Repair or replace water heaters
- Install solar screens
- Apply solar reflective coating to manufactured homes
- Install attic ventilation
In order to qualify for the Weatherization Program, you must own and occupy the home to be repaired. Family income can not be higher than the limits listed in the following chart. (2006 Limits)
