February 16, 2006 - Cultural Affairs Council Announces "Lucie Award" Winners

The St. Lucie County Cultural Affairs Council announced the winners of the 2006 Lucie Awards. The awards are presented annually to four local citizens for lifetime achievements to the arts and culture of St. Lucie County and the world. This year's winners are Doris Tillman, advocate for the revitalization of Historic Downtown Fort Pierce, the Sunrise Theatre and Main Street Fort Pierce; Anne Abood, co-founder of the Treasure Coast Opera Society; Harvey K. Littleton, glass artisan and mentor to Dale Chihuly; and Olive Dame Peterson, author of two biographies of famed Fort Pierce artist A.E. "Bean" Backus and former president of the Florida Historical Society.

The awards will be presented at a brunch on April 2, 2006 at the Pelican Yacht Club in Fort Pierce. There will be a silent auction and award winning percussionists Judah Williams and Sankofa will entertain. Tickets are $50 per person and seating is limited.
