January 25, 2006 - North Jenkins Road Planning Workshop Scheduled

The St. Lucie County Growth Management Department Planning Division will host a community planning workshop facilitated by Dan Burden, Walkable Communities Director and recognized leader in community planning. The results of the workshop will assist St. Lucie County in forming a vision and planning strategies for future growth and development in the planning area. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, February 1 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Westwood High School's media center located at 1801 Panther Lane (off Angle Road) in Fort Pierce.

This workshop will focus on land use and design issues for properties in the area bounded by Kings Highway, Orange Avenue and Angle Road (planning area).

Facilitator Dan Burden is recognized for his excellence in livable communities design and innovative urban transportation planning. He has been recognized by Time Magazine as one of the six most important civic innovators in the world and the Transportation Research Board (National Academy of Sciences) selected Mr. Burden as its Distinguished Lecturer in 2001. Information gained at the workshop will be utilized in the preparation of a final report with recommendations that will guide future development in the planning area. Mr. Burden will present the results of the workshop and his final report to the St. Lucie Board of County Commissioners on February 14, 2006 at 6 p.m.
