October 30, 2007 - Fort Pierce Library Presents Heathcote Talk Nov. 10
Amy Dahan, interim director of Heathcote Botanical Gardens, will be the guest speaker at the Fort Pierce Library on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m.Heathcote Botanical Gardens is an intimate, 3.5-acre botanical garden collecting, preserving and displaying plants of the warm-temperate, subtropic and tropic regions. Along with its collections of palms, cycads, bromeliads, bonsai, flowering trees, shrubs and vines, the Botanical Gardens also contains numerous themed gardens, Heathcote House, the Pioneer House, and Gift Shop, as well as other unique architectural and landscape features.
Dahan will talk about Heathcote's history and funding and its mission and role in the community in regards to education and inspiration. She will also discuss Heathcote's future in terms of expansion and funding and the importance of volunteers.
The importance of plants and gardens will also be a topic of the presentation.
