Monday, May 19, 2008 - County Earns National Budget Award For 10th Year
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) announced recently that St. Lucie County has received the GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget. This is the 10th consecutive year that the county's Office of Management and Budget has received this award.In additional to the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, the St. Lucie County Office of Management and Budget will receive a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation.
The award represents a significant achievement by the county, reflecting the staff's commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the GFOA award, the county had to meet nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, including a policy document, a financial plan, an operational guide and a communications device.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit, professional organization serving 17,500 government finance professionals throughout North America. The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
