Free tax assistance this year will be offered by walk-in service only.
Masks are strongly encouraged.
Trained, IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. AARP tax help is targeted at low to moderate income taxpayers 60 or older, but no one will be turned away because of age.
Paperwork that residents will potentially need to bring to have their federal taxes prepared includes: Proof of identification, Social Security numbers, birth dates of family members, property tax bills, all income documents, including wage and earning statement(s) Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R from all employers; interest and dividend statements from banks (Forms 1099-Div); a copy of last year's Federal and State returns (if available) ; health care expenses; donation receipts and bank routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit.
Please be aware it's not possible to contact the tax volunteers by calling the individual locations. The federal IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center can be contacted at 772-340-5606. It is located at 7410 South US 1, Port St. Lucie.
