The NCS Partnership GraphicAbout The National Community Survey

The National Community Survey™ (NCS™), is an instrument that was developed in partnership with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) in 2001 to provide cities and counties with a high-quality, cost-effective scientific survey of resident opinion and an important benchmarking tool that allows for comparison among communities.  It was among the first scientific surveys developed to gather resident opinions on a range of community issues and has been used in hundreds of jurisdictions across the U.S.  The NCS™ The survey centers on community livability and includes questions about the quality of life, local policies, demographics, rating of local government services, and resident use of services.

Resident feedback helps St. Lucie County address issues that are most important to our community and informs the updates of our County’s Strategic Plan.  Survey responses are confidential and no identifying information is shared, the National Research Center will collect and analyze the responses independently and inform the County how we measure up against more than 500 other communities throughout the United States.

2022 Survey

On October 7, 2022, St. Lucie County once again launched the National Community Survey to a scientifically random sampling of 5,500 households.   Selected households received a postcard asking them to provide their feedback on a list of questions regarding the future of St. Lucie County. This commenced the process to update the County’s Strategic Plan by collecting resident opinions on County services and priorities.
