The Board of County Commissioners originally adopted a Strategic Plan in June of 2020. Annually, the BOCC convenes to refresh this document and align its goals and priorities with current community needs. The Board of County Commissioners adopted the FY25 Strategic Plan Update in July of 2024.

The Strategic Plan, which is informed by input from the public through the National Community Survey, strategic planning workshops, the Board of County Commissioners, strategic planning workshops, and interviews, guides the budget.

Likewise, the budget process moderates the Strategic Plan by prioritizing resources to support service delivery. The budget is the annual implementation of the St. Lucie County Strategic Plan and the associated Board of County Commissioner priorities.

The resources made available through the budget enable continuous improvement toward the key results desired by the Board of County Commissioners and the public.

The Strategic Plan guides St. Lucie County in its operations and allocation of resources, ensuring we align priorities in support of the Plan.  Through Plan implementation we continue the Board’s commitment to good fiscal stewardship, a strong commitment to public safety, improving infrastructure, facilitating economic growth, protecting our environmental resources, collaborating with our partner agencies, and creating an award-winning “Best Places to Work” environment for our employees.
