The Smithsonian Marine Station and St. Lucie County are celebrating 15 years of partnership with a 15th Birthday Bash on the Lagoon!
In addition to regular Aquarium offerings, including viewing the model ecosystem aquaria, visiting the touch tank, and joining the daily feeding tours at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., Birthday Bash participants can enjoy special science learning stations with Smithsonian researchers or get their feet wet collecting animals with seine nets from seagrass beds in the Fort Pierce Inlet. Seining programs will be offered at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. All participants must wear protective footwear, such as water shoes or sandals with heel straps, and children ages 16 and under must be accompanied in the water by a parent or guardian.
All Birthday Bash activities are free with paid Aquarium admission of $4 for adults and $3 for children and seniors (age 55+). Children ages 3 and under are free. Aquarium memberships are available starting at $15. No advance registration is required for this event. The Smithsonian Exhibit at the St. Lucie County Aquarium is located at 420 Seaway Drive in Fort Pierce.
