What is Single Stream Recycling?

Single stream recycling refers to our system in which all kinds of recyclables are put into a single bin by residents. Recyclables include items such as bottles, cans, jars and jugs made of aluminum, glass, plastic, steel and/or tin, along with cardboard, paper and paperboard.

Recycling Carts

All single-family households in unincorporated St. Lucie County and the City of Port St. Lucie have a green 64-gallon recycling cart with wheels and an attached lid for Single Stream Recyclables.  If you live in a building without recycling, you can still recycle!  Just bring your recyclables to 6120 Glades Cut-Off Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981.  Upon arrival, drive straight ahead to the Scale House, pull onto the scale closest to the window, and let the operator know what items you are dropping off and they will direct you.

**Hazardous items are dangerous to put in recycling carts, but many can be recycled in other ways.  Call (772) 462-1768 or visit our Household Hazardous Waste page for more information.
