Benefiting the United Way - the field is full, but you can participate in the ball drop at 8:30 a.m.
Even if you don’t play golf, you can still participate in the Golf Ball Drop Contest, where you can purchase a golf ball (or several) to be dropped out of a helicopter onto a designated drop zone. The owner of the ball closest to the target (or landing in the hole) will win half of the funds collected with the other half going to the United Way. The cost of the Ball Drop is $5 per ball or five balls for $20. Balls can be purchased at the St. Lucie County Administration Complex, 2300 Virginia Ave., Fort Pierce (third floor) or at Fairwinds Golf Course, 4400 Fairwinds Drive, Fort Pierce.
The winner of last year’s Ball Drop took home $2,118, with that same amount going to the United Way of St. Lucie County.
