Frogs trill, owls lurk, and bats fly overhead. These are some of the night wonders waiting for us on this combination pine flatwoods and wetland area which was the site of an early pioneer settlement and cemetery along the banks of the St. Lucie River. First settled in 1891, Spruce Bluff consisted of a community of several families with a school, post office and sawmill.

Programs are usually limited to 15 people helping to allow participants to immerse themselves into the county’s beautiful natural areas. Programs target ages 12 and older unless otherwise noted. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Proper footwear and water are required for all programs, and please leave pets at home.
