The Oxbow Eco-Center is partnering with the Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County and ONE Treasure Coast to host a 3K Hike on Saturday, Dec. 5 starting at 1 p.m. in recognition of World AIDS Day. This free hike is open to all ages and is an effort to help raise awareness, elevate knowledge toward prevention, and provide community support for those families along the Treasure Coast who struggle with this disease.
Please register for the Oxbow 5k AIDS Awareness Hike on Saturday, Dec. 5 by picking up or requesting a registration form from the Oxbow Eco-Center; or by signing up electronically at http://www.onetreasurecoast.org. Participants can sign up individually or as part of a team, and banners identifying teams are welcome during the hike. Participants should wear appropriate attire for walking/hiking. In the event of mud/water on the trails the hike will continue. If mud/water is excessive the hike may be re-routed.
The Oxbow’s World AIDS Day 3k Hike is being held in conjunction with other events and activities throughout the county including:
- Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. - Candlelight Vigil at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 921 Orange Ave., Fort Pierce
- Thursday Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. - World AIDS Day Fair: “It’s Not Over” at Virginia College, 2810 South Federal Highway, Fort Pierce
- Sunday, Dec. 6 - Red Ribbon Sunday, call 772-461-7788 for participating churches
