Harvest Moon Night Hike

Come explore with the Environmental Resources Department through our award-winning guided nature program series.

  • Friday, Oct 18 - Harvest Moon Night Hike at George LeStrange Preserve (7:00pm-9:00pm) - The Harvest Moon gave ancient ancestors in the Northern Hemisphere bright light to harvest fields, working under its light to prepare food stores for the coming winter. We'll be using the bright moonlight to guide our night-time journey, see its reflective light on the lake inside the preserve, and listen for trilling insects, frogs, and hooting owls. Minimum age 12.

Visit www.SLChikes.org for more information and to register. Nature hikes are FREE, reservations are required, and space is limited. Kayak paddles are $20 per person with all equipment provided, reservations are required, and space is limited. The Guided Nature Program season runs from October  through June. There are various topics, locations, and distances all designed for different ages and abilities. There are more than 11,000 acres of protected land for you to discover. We look forward to seeing you in the great outdoors!
