The purpose of the EMS Advisory Council is to review and make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners regarding applications of Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (COPCN) to provide life support services and other matters related to the provision of such services in the County.

Pursuant to Section 401.25, Florida Statutes, the EMS Advisory Council was created by Resolution No. 88-336, Ordinance No. 96-04 and amended by Ordinance No. 08-011.
Membership Details
The By-Laws of the Advisory Council provide that five members shall be appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. In addition, Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute and St. Lucie Medical Center each appoint one representative for a total of seven members.
Appointment Terms
The members terms will run concurrent with their appointing Commissioners.
