Accomplishments

The first year in office is all about learning the job but Jamie promised that she would hit the ground running and would get things done by the end of her first year and indeed she has.

In her first year in office, she has championed for increased safety for our children in school zones with the approval of the ordinance for school zone speed cameras which will allow the use of speed detection cameras to ticket motorists going 10 miles an hour over the speed limit when the flashing yellow lights are activated in the morning when children are going to school and in the afternoon when they are going home.

She was an advocate for our residents. Jamie engaged the St. Lucie County staff to bring the owner of Port St. Lucie Properties in front of the Contractor Licensing Board for defrauding local residents. The owner was ultimately stripped of his ability to pull any additional new permits.

In May 2024, Jamie launched the youth development program, Shadow the Commissioner.  The program focuses on helping to educate, empower, and inspire High School students and members of the local 4-H youth council, to better understand the duties and responsibilities of local government officials, and help shape the future leadership of St. Lucie County.

In June 2024, through hard work and perseverance, Jamie was presented with the Certified County Commissioner (CCC) designation from the Institute for County Government (ICG). This achievement was accomplished through a voluntary program of study designed for county commissioners to learn information and enhance skills related to their duties and responsibilities as elected officials.
