St. Lucie County's nature preserves are a jewels of the community and are open from dawn until dusk every day.  Spending time in natural spaces can be quite beneficial for well-being! Remember to be kind: to others, the preserves, and yourself.

The Environmental Resources Department (ERD) manages preserves and natural areas, which account for over 11,000 acres of St. Lucie County. From beautiful sandy beaches in the east to ranch land restorations and cypress hammocks in the west, ERD cares for some of the most beautiful sites within our County.

The St. Lucie County Environmental Lands project began in 1994 with the passage of a $20 million local bond program. The program's mission is to preserve, protect and restore ecosystems in their natural state while providing compatible public use. Lands are acquired with the assistance of Florida Communities Trust (FCT), South Florida Water Management District, Save our Rivers (SOR), and Conservation and Recreational Lands (CARL).

Visitors are reminded that using these sites is "at your own risk."

Pinelands Preserve remains CLOSED until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience.
