Facilities
Facilities Department is made up of approximately 81 full and part-time employees the coordinate and manage the design and construction of Department and County Capital Projects, including new construction and renovations, within budget and on time. There are seven areas facilitated within this Department:
- Construction/Renovation
- Administrative Judicial Maintenance
- Air Conditioning
- Rock Road Jail Maintenance
- Housekeeping
- Service Garage
Each of the employees that make up these departments play a vital role within St. Lucie County by working together to provide high-quality service at the lowest cost to County Departments and County Agencies. St. Lucie County's growth has been phenomenal and the Facilities Department strives to support that growth by upgrading many of the County facilities, as well as new construction, to better meet the needs of all County employees who serve the community.
- Energy Conservation: Participating in water saving project at the St. Lucie County Jail at Rock Road. Since 2007, the annual savings average $200,000 a year and approximately 13,000,000 gallons of water saved annually.
- Floor replacement: State Attorney, Roger Poitras, AG Center, Employee Health Center and the Hurricane House.
- Roof replacement: Lincoln Park Community Center.
- Door replacement: Sheriff’s Administration and County Administration.
- Lighting upgrade: Morningside Library, Lakewood Park Library, and Logistic Center.
- A/C Renovation/Replacement: St. Lucie West Annex, Hurricane House, Mets, Jail, UDT Museum, Public Defender, and old Forestry.
- St. Lucie County Jail at Rock Road: Support environmental air quality.
- Waterproofing/Painted: Public Defender (awning), Aquarium, Fenn Center, and Emergency Operations Center.
- Renovations: Tax Collector, State Attorney, (Empire I), old Forestry Building for Parks, Historical Museum, Employee Health Clinic, Solid Waste, Pepper Park and Administration building.
- Renovations: Made furniture for Human Resources, Veterans Services, Tax Collector, SLC Utilities, and Ravenswood Pool.
- We are responsible for more than 162 buildings; 28 of these are major public buildings. This works out to 1.6 million square feet of building space and approximately 6,211 tons of air conditioning.

Our department oversees all of the fleet for St. Lucie County employees, consisting of 300 light fleet and 101 light trucks and heavy equipment. Fuel: This past year we used 101,000 gallons of diesel fuel and 182,269 gallons of gasoline.
