Library Cards
All residents of St. Lucie County are entitled to a library card free of charge. Cards can be obtained in person at any branch except Pruitt Campus Library. Applicants 16 or older can call any location except Pruitt during open hours or fill out this online form to be issued a temporary card (see details below). If you call please have your address and contact information handy, along with a pen and paper you can use to write down your account number if you’d like to use it to check out e-books prior to receiving your card. You'll be given the option of having your card mailed to you, which may take up to two weeks, or picking it up at one of our branches. If you plan to pick it up please make sure we know which branch you want to pick it up from.
A card issued by phone or via the online form will be valid for 30 days; it can be used to access online resources and place up to 5 holds on physical items, but it cannot be used to check out physical items. In order to change the card to a full-use card the user must visit any library branch in person to fulfill the requirements listed below. An exception is made for non-resident cards; please see the "Non-Resident Borrower's Cards" section below.
To obtain a library card you must fill out and sign a Library Card Application, present a photo ID and proof of residency (unless applying as a nonresident), and give contact information in the form of either a phone number or email address. Address and contact information must be confirmed or updated every 3 years in order for an account to remain in good standing. Non-resident cards require a $25 annual fee.
