The Zora Neale Hurston Branch Library is located at 3008 Avenue D, Fort Pierce, Florida 34947, just west of 29th Street. To see it in Google Maps, click here.

The facility is named in honor of Zora Neale Hurston (1891-1960), famed African American author, storyteller, folklorist and anthropologist who was born in Notasulga, Alabama, grew up in Eatonville, Florida, and spent the last two years of her life in Fort Pierce where she is buried. The Hurston Branch Library is also the starting point of the Zora Neale Hurston Dust Tracks Heritage Trail and home of Ade Rossman's "Zora Art Series," a cycle of paintings commissioned in 2006 by the St. Lucie County Cultural Affairs Department.

Marvin E. Hobson, Assistant Professor at Indian River State College, spoke in 2019 at the Hurston Branch about Barracoon: The Story of the Last "Black Cargo," Zora Neale Hurston's story of Cudjo Lewis, a survivor of the transatlantic slave trade. Professor Hobson's lecture can be viewed on YouTube here.
