Opening in October of 2017, the Lewis Branch Library was the first new library facility to open in St. Lucie County in nearly 20 years. It was named after retired County Commissioner Paula A. Lewis, who was a strong library supporter during her 20 years on the St. Lucie Board of County Commissioners, advocating for improvements to library buildings, staffing and programming. Ms. Lewis has also served for over a decade on the Friends of the St. Lucie County Library Executive Board.
