The Memory Studio at the Susan B. Kilmer Branch Library provides tools and resources to preserve your unique history. Increasingly, the materials that make up people's lives are becoming more digital, but not everyone has the equipment or knowledge to properly take care of them. Many analog formats, such as VHS, degrade over time and need to be digitized before the recordings are lost.

The Memory Studio is a DIY space for free do-it-yourself digitization of photos, videos, sound recordings, and other formats. Get a SLC library card, attend an orientation, and sign the Memory Studio’s User Agreement in order to book a reservation to digitize your own materials.

Adult card holders are welcome in the studio. To use a station you must have a current St. Lucie County Library card. Youth under 16 who wish to use the studio must be accompanied by an adult with an active library card unless involved in a library program or workshop.

Reservations are required. The studio accommodates individuals or small groups. To make a reservation at the Kilmer Branch call 772-462-2187.

Bring your own storage device to save your project, though a limited number of 4 gb flash drives are available for purchase for $5. Black and white printing is 10 cents per page, color prints are 50 cents. Photo paper is not available or compatible with our printers. The Memory Studio is not soundproof. Library staff may ask that the volume be kept low during your digitization project if other patrons are affected.
