What is "Community Resilience"?

Community Resilience is the capacity of local governments, individuals, organizations, institutions and businesses to plan for, respond to, withstand, and bounce back from acute and chronic stressors, including impacts such as sea level rise, flooding and intensified storms.

Resident Stewards Help Map Flood Occurrences

St. Lucie County residents can help collect real-time flooding photographs and information to help  local and regional stormwater management planners develop strategies that reduce risk of flooding in St. Lucie County. It’s simple. Just upload your pictures and information to the South Florida Water Management District’s Flood Observation Survey tool (SFWMD.gov/FloodingApp).

Reporting a Flooding Issue to Your Local Government Stormwater Management Professionals

To report flooding issues that need to be addressed by your local Public Works Department, you can choose from any of the following options:

UNINCORPORATED ST. LUCIE COUNTY

If you live in unincorporated St. Lucie County and are experiencing heavy rain AND rapidly rising water, please do one or all of the flowing:

  • Call 911 and the information will be relayed to County staff;
  • Call 772-462-2511 - the Road & Bridge Division hot line. If you are asked to leave a message, please know that the lines are monitored 24 hours/day, 7 days/week and staff will get to the location as soon as possible along with responding to your phone call or text.
  • Email flooding@stlucieco.org. This email is also monitored closely and staff will get to the location as soon as possible along with responding to your email.
