Exhibit Tours
There is much more to the Smithsonian Marine Ecosystems Exhibit than what you see in the exhibit hall! As complex and extraordinary as our living model ecosystems are, there’s always more to learn. A tour is a fantastic way to get to know our exhibits even better. Please join us for tours listed below:

Tuesday through Saturday at 10:30 a.m. (Year Round) and Mondays (January-March) at 10:30 a.m.

During this guided feeding tour, visitors can watch our underwater residents enjoy their morning meal while learning about the exhibit’s daily menu, as well as what we are learning about local ecosystems from our unique model ecosystems. All ages are welcome for this staff-led ~30 minute tour. 

Snack Time Tours
Tuesday through Sunday at 2:30 p.m. (Year Round) and Mondays (January-March) at 2:30 p.m.

Join us as some of our Aquarium inhabitants get a special afternoon snack! Learn about the animals being fed, and find out why these ecosystems are so important to the health of our local waters. All ages are welcome for this staff-led ~30 minute tour. 

Behind-the-Scenes Tours
Saturdays at 2 p.m.

This insightful behind-the-scenes laboratory tour gives visitors a first-hand look at the necessary systems essential for keeping our living model ecosystems thriving. Biological, chemical and mechanical filtration systems, lighting systems and chillers and feeding regimes are all explained. This staff-led tour is best for ages 10 and older, and lasts ~30 minutes.
