Donated materials are delivered to and stockpiled at Harbour Pointe Park until enough materials are accumulated to completely fill a barge (~500 tons).  The County has permits to stage the stockpiled materials directly onto a barge at Taylor Creek.  This reduces the cost of construction for St. Lucie County to build artificial reefs and also allows the St. Lucie County Artificial Reef Program (SLCARP) to accept donations of high quality concrete and structural steel in small quantities and store them prior to deployment.  These materials would otherwise be delivered to a landfill.  To date, the SLCARP has accepted more than 4,000 tons of materials that would have been landfilled.
