Midway Road – S. 25th Street to U.S. 1

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Four Treasure Coast office is overseeing the construction of the improvements to the 1.8 mile segment of Midway Road/CR 712 from just west of South 25th Street to just east of U.S. 1 in St. Lucie County.  The project will widen the existing two-lane road to a four-lane divided road to handle future expected traffic.  The project will also improve safety and allow opportunities for pedestrian, bicycle, and transit facilities.

Midway Road will be expanded to a four-lane divided highway with raised medians and designated bicycle lanes and pedestrian facilities.  Intersection improvements will be constructed at South 25th Street, Sunrise Boulevard, Oleander Avenue, and U.S.1.  Additionally, Sunrise Boulevard will be signalized.  For pedestrians, the project includes the construction of a 12-foot wide shared use path along the south side of Midway Road from 25th Street to U.S. 1.  A six-foot wide sidewalk will be constructed everywhere else within the limits of construction.  Drainage improvements include the construction of six retention ponds.
