Wastewater (also known as sewage) is used water that includes substances such as food scraps, chemicals, oils, soaps, and human waste.  Wastewater is typically generated from homes and commercial buildings that have sinks, showers, bathtubs, toilets, washing machines and/or dishwashers. Once the wastewater passes through the drain, it eventually makes its way to the wastewater plant for processing.

SLCU wastewater facility tours provide St. Lucie County residents and local groups with an interactive learning experience that involves indoor and outdoor components of how the wastewater is treated and reused.
