The District gets the drinking water we deliver to our customers through two different means. The first is from the two water treatment plants we own and operate. The second is through bulk water service we receive through a partnership with a neighboring utility. The source of water in both instances is groundwater. The groundwater comes from aquifers deep underground. An aquifer is an underground layer of water-bearing permeable rock or unconsolidated materials (gravel, sand, or silt) from which groundwater can be extracted using a water well. The drinking water within the District comes from two aquifers, the Surficial Aquiferand the Upper Floridan Aquifer. The water we use is a finite resource, here’s how you can help preserve this valuable resource.
